Where To Put Your Home Generator
It does not matter how much money you have spent on your home emergency power system, you will still have to make an ongoing effort to maintain it.
Take responsibility for your generator, it will not look after itself. Nor does it mean that it can do everything automatically on it’s own.
Use your head and your common sense. So for matters pertaining to location of your standby power generator:
Try and place it outdoors, and away from your house. To make this clear, this means a dry, clean and aerated place. Somewhere that is aerated, where any fumes can escape and dissipate. Never near or around open windows.
If you have not had your generator fitted by a certified professional, then do yourself a favor and get it checked out by one. If it does not work because of faulty installation then you cannot claim on your insurance for any losses incurred during an emergency power outage. You could be placing your family and your neighborhood at risk.
If you have any questions, or are unsure about something, it is always best to contact the supplier direct. You will get expert professional advice, and the opportunity to have a trained specialist call out to you if you think you need this.
Just because you have bought an automatic generator does not mean that you do not have to do anything to ensure it works properly. Your standby generator will be responsible for maintaining crucial services, when you need them most. Services and appliances that can potentially save lives. Respect your generator at all times. Do not take any short cuts with your generator.
